As well as reducing carbon emissions which can be directly related to saving a number of trees, LED lamps produce 0% UV radiation and contain no harmful substances such as mercury found in fluorescent tubes and therefore LED lamps do not require specialist and costly disposal.

In the UK alone, it is estimated that over 80 million lamps are being disposed of each year.

Many of these are not disposed of properly and are simply sent to landfill sites, exposing people and the environment to toxic and hazardous chemicals, including phosphor, mercury and lead. A single fluorescent tube contains enough mercury to pollute more than 30,000 litres of water!
